From the start, Apple has positioned HomePod as audio fidelity first, everything else second.

Based on a recent Reddit thread from r/audiophile, Apple has delivered on its hi-fi promise. Just like Apple has been praised for its displays on iPhones, iPads and Macs for being best-in-class and tuned to look true-to-life, the HomePod appears to be Apple showing off how it can use its audio engineering expertise to push the best performance out of a small music speaker…

Apple Watch was one-half of the iPhone 6 keynote and warranted a second event before its debut. HomePod was similarly introduced months in advance as a sneak peek at the end of WWDC but its launch has been noticeably more low-key.

That may be because Apple is taking HomePod slower and the addressable market is limited to just three countries to start, but ultimately HomePod may prove a better investment for early adopters than Apple Watch did.

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 16:58:01 +00009to5MacReview: Living with Vitra’s Pacific Chair, Jony Ive’s choice for Apple Park
https://9to5mac.com/2018/01/29/vitra-pacific-chair-review-apple-park/
Mon, 29 Jan 2018 16:11:07 +0000

If I asked you to name a few common technology products, office chairs probably wouldn’t make the list. The act of sitting down is such a fundamental human activity that chairs are often overlooked entirely, and rarely thought of as technology. Yet, sitting has quietly become an art in itself. The engineering behind a chair can make or break your productivity and its design can compliment or ruin the appearance of room. Multiply that factor by 12,000 – the number of employees expected to occupy the new Apple Park campus in Cupertino – and suddenly choosing the right chair becomes vital.

With that in mind, upon hearing that Apple – with guidance by Jony Ive – had picked Vitra’s Pacific Chair as the seat of choice for one of the most creative workforces on earth, I knew I had to try one out myself.

What government can and should do is to push spectrum into the commercial marketplace and set rules that encourage the private sector to develop and deploy next-generation infrastructure.
Despite the fact that HomePod went up for preorder on Friday, there are still a few details about the device left unknown. While we explained last week that HomePod can play purchased iTunes Music, podcasts, and stream Beats 1, we couldn’t confirm how the smart speaker handled iTunes Match content via iCloud Music Library…
